There are multiple harmless blemishes which may be annoying on aesthetic grounds, or because they catch or irritate. These may include skin tags, seborrheic keratoses (age spots), prominent intradermal naevi (fleshy moles), and cysts.
Many of these can be removed by quick and minimally invasive procedures, such as with diathermy, curettage, cryosurgery, snip excision or shave excision. Some lesions are best formally excised, and closed with sutures. The majority can be readily performed with minimal or no downtime, and with minimal residual marks.
For some lesions though, your dermatologist may advise against removal just on aesthetic grounds, especially if a more significant scar is anticipated. Your dermatologist can advise the suitability of your lesion for improving, and the best technique. For those suitable for simple measures, this can often be done immediately, if this is your preference.
